The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell explains the science behind Plant-Based eating. I will warn you it is a lot of science and is not a light read. It is a great reference book and can be used when you have specific questions about health. Definitely one you will want on your shelf to reference over and over again.
Starch Solution by Dr. John A McDougall is what I refer to as a simplified version of The China Study. It gives you the application as to how to eat plant-based including recipes at the back of the book. This is a great book when you are first starting out and feel intimidated about plant based eating.
Cure Your Child with Food by Kelly Dorfman is about the hidden connections between food and childhood ailments such as anxiety, recurrent ear infections, stomachaches, picky eating, rashes, ADHD and more. Most people try to feed their children the best they can, but few know how to decipher the effect food has on their health. This book has made its way into plenty of my mothering friends hands as they try to help their children without over medicating.
Intellectual
Key to Living the Law of Attraction by Jack Canfield and D.D. Watkins is a book on the application of the Law of Attraction or what some refer to as the “Secret”. The idea that our thoughts control what happens in our life. Something that takes a lifetime to master. If you feel like you are headed in the wrong direction this book is helpful in encouraging you to take control and steer your own boat.
The Emotion Code by Dr. Bradley Nelson is the relation, psychology, self-help and success guide that teaches how to eliminate the negative emotions from our lives. Most of us spend our lives on the basis of past experiences that can unknowingly bring negativity to us. This book has helped me to heal emotionally so I can heal physically over and over again. I highly recommend it!
Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk is a great introduction into the way that our body holds onto emotions and experiences that can ultimately cause us harm. It is a bit heavy so I wouldn’t recommend it for your next sunny vacation, but it helped me open my eyes to how the body works.
It’s Just My Nature and The Child Whisperer both by Carol Tuttle changed my whole outlook on parenting and relationships! After grasping the concept of different “types” of people I have been able to navigate and accept my own strengths and weaknesses, as well as others more graciously.
